Area information
Swindon Museum and Art Gallery (6 miles / 9.5 km) - housed in a listed building, the museum displays local history, archaeology, geology, and modern British art - including Swindon's jurassic past and recent Roman discoveries.
Kelmscott Manor (10 miles / 16 km) - set beside the Thames, this grade 1 listed Tudor farmhouse was the summer home of artist and activist William Morris. It now contains an important collection of his work and possessions, including furniture, original textiles, carpets and ceramics.
Uffington (12 miles / 19 km) - this picturesque village was home to the late poet laureate, Sir John Betjemen. There are exhibits about him and the area at the local museum, which itself is situated in a 400 year old school room. Overlooking the village is the Iron Age hillfort of Uffington Castle, with the world famous White Horse on the bank beneath.

From the M4
- Exit at Junction 15 for the A419 to Swindon.
- Exit the A419 for the A361 (Highworth Road) near Stratton.
- At the end of the exit, turn left off the roundabout and pass back under the the motorway on the A419.
- After you have passed Kingsdown Road on your left, proceed a further 600 metres and take the turning on your left (leading to 'The Avenue').
- Follow the road and the hotel will be on your left.
From the M5:
- Exit at Junction 11A for the A417 (Brockworth Bypass).
- Stay on the A417 to Cirencester, then change to the A419 to Swindon.
- Exit the A419 for the A361 at Stratton St Margaret.
- Take the 1st exit at the roundabout (at the end of the slip road).
- Take the 2nd exit at the 2nd roundabout.
