This Georgian building is now a family-run guest house with easy access to Edinburgh city centre by bus. It offers free Wi-Fi, free parking and en suite rooms with flat-screen TVs.

Allison House is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) south of Edinburgh Waverley Rail Station and the city centre. The regular buses take about 10 minutes to reach the city centre.

The guest house was fully refurbished in 2007 and mixes modern comforts with original features. The large rooms come with a free Scotsman newspaper and free whiskey or sherry. The rooms have work desks, hairdryers and tea/coffee.

A full Scottish breakfast is available each day.

There is a large garden and a computer with free internet at reception.

David and Anne Marie have owned the Allison House for 14 years and during this period have extensively upgraded it without destroying the elegance and history of the Georgian building.

Situated in Newington, in the Southside of Edinburgh, the residence is 15 minutes' walk from the Royal Mile and the city's numerous attractions.

Local transport passes the Allison every 2 minutes, and Edinburgh Airport is 10 miles from the Allison.

Waverley Station is 1.25 miles (ca 2 km) from the Allison.
