Area information
Ambleside is a small town in the centre of the English Lake District, surrounded by fells, with lakes in all directions. The buses come through Ambleside, making it a very convenient location for visiting the surrounding area. There are tennis courts, putting green, a bowling green and mountain bike hire very close by.
Ambleside is a wonderful centre for the variety of restaurants and bistros to enjoy, with a number of pubs to frequent for the thirsty. Whilst there is not a great nightlife, you will find a warm and friendly atmosphere is here.
Less than a mile in either direction will bring you to either Lake Windermere or Rydal Water. If you enjoy reading, the homes of Wordsworth, Ruskin and Beatrix Potter are close by and are well worth a visit.
