The A’jia Hotel has 16 rooms ranging from a park view room to the Pasha Suite. All feature air-conditioning, marble bathrooms, LCD multi-channel TVs, king sized beds and down feather pillows.

Pertaining to the general hotel interior, the rooms have predominantly neutral colours (cream, linen, lily-white, black and beige) with elegant wooden floors. The room interior combines well with the view of the sparkling-blue Bosphorus.

This is a wonderful place to enjoy a romantic dinner à deux. You will sit right on the water’s edge at a candlelit table with crisp white linen. Indoors you will find more tables, being placed in a formal dining room with views of the water.

The generous menu consists mainly of the modern Mediterranean cuisine and is served in a pleasant way.

The cod fishcake starter, served with spinach and tartar sauce for example is as a light main course with garnishes. Typical dishes include slow-cooked lamb shanks, sea bass with citrus-baked fennel, octopus carpaccio and, for dessert, chestnut soufflé with coconut parfait.

A wide choice of wines from all over the world - among others Turkish and European wines - and cocktails are served in an upper terrace bar area.

Explore Kanlica (10-15 minutes walk), a charming district of local shops and wooden Ottoman houses. You should also visit the Beylerbeyi Palace, which is close to the hotel. It is a magnificent 19th century imperial residence of Sultan Abdulaziz.

Take a trip to Emirgan, which is a 4-minute crossing in the hotel’s courtesy boat. Here you can visit the Sapik Sabanci Museum, one of Istanbul’s foremost art galleries. Alternatively go to Nisantasi for designer shopping, Ortakoy for boutiques and waterside cafés, or explore Bebek (another trendy Bosphorus district).

Sultanahmet, the heart of Istanbul, is home to one of the richest concentrations of historical landmarks in the world; among them are the Suleymaniye and Blue Mosques, Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace.

Take a 5-minute boat ride to the northern Bosphorous and see the Kucuksu Kasri (a small decorative palace), Hidiv Kasri (an art nouveau villa), and Rumeli Castle. The hotel can also arrange personalized boat trips and tours of private mansions in the area.

For shopping, experience the bargaining at the Grand Bazaar to the high-street stores that line the Istiklal Caddesi. Head to the back streets of Beyoglu for night-life, restaurants, art galleries and café-bars.
