Breiten is located in the centre of the Aletsch area and is a central starting point for hiking trips in the whole upper Valais and for skiing at the Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiescheralp ski areas. All ski areas can be reached with the free ski bus and the cable car in about 15 minutes. Cross-country skiing is available in nearby Goms.
