Built in the early 19th century, Långholmen Hotell is housed in an old Crown Prison. Following a thorough refurbishment, the hotel now includes Stockholm's most captivating museum.

The modern guest rooms at Långholmen are functionally furnished and have retained many authentic features. Times change and staying in a cell is now a captivating experience. All guests receive their own key and breakfast certainly consists of more than bread and water.

Långholmen Hotell provides guests with an unusual and historically interesting experience. An attractive gallery dating from 1866 is situated in the middle of the complex. This area creates a beautiful, open atrium. The old prison entrance hall has been made into a reception and includes a 24 hour cafeteria.

The Långholmen Restaurant offers contemporary Swedish cuisine. The Inn is housed in the Alstavik residence, which dates back to the 1670s. The banqueting hall and wine cellar are available for private occasions or business events.

Stockholm's most captivating prison museum is open daily and guided tours are given at weekends. To discover the rest of Stockholm, simply cross the bridge and explore the town's rich offering of shopping, galleries and theatres. Complimentary car parking is available and the subway station Hornstull is just a 10 minute walk away.

Hotel information

The hotel is housed in the old Crown Prison, which was built in the early 19th century. In the middle of the building is the attractive gallery dating from 1866. This has given us the hotel's beautiful, open atrium.

In 1975, the last prisoner was discharged and in May 1989 we opened the hotel after two years' renovation work. The last renovation of the hotel was 2008.

The old prison entrance hall has been converted into a reception, with a cafeteria open 24 hours a day. Times change, and staying in a cell is now a captivating experience. We promise to give you your own key, and that breakfast consists of more than bread and water.

The cells are now pleasingly and functionally furnished. We have 89 single and 13 double cells, of which 10 have facilities for the disabled.
All our cells are smokefree.
All rooms have been renovated 2008

Långholmen Hotell contains a restaurant and café and is housed in the Alstavik residence, which dates back to the 1670s.

Outside the hotel's entrance, there is a delightful beach and jogging paths which are situated in a peaceful culturally historic park environment.
