Lutheran Hostel

Youth hostel and guest house in the Romanian Black Sea Region. A welcoming house in a small town, 15 minutes drive from of the beaches of Eforie Nord.

The house is run by the German Lutheran Church of Bucharest and was recently renovated (2004). The hostel gives youth-groups and young families the possibility of low-price stays at the Romanian Black Sea.

The town of Techirghiol is a small resort with a famous salty lake and only 30 minute drive from the main railway station of Constanta.

1, 2, 3 and 4 bed rooms located across 2 floors. There are 4 shared toilets and 2 showers per floor. The hostel provides a simple design and its facilities include a TV Room, a big outdoor area for camping and sports, large terraces and a BBQ Place.

Excellent home made food is on offer and the hostel provides a well deserved evening retreat from the noisy and modern beach resorts.

The house is well-suited for groups of between 15 and 30 people.

The hostel suggests you travel by car as this will allow you to explore the surrounding area. Arriving by train or public bus is also possible but you should be prepared for about 20 minutes walk.

Techirghiol is an ancient settlement with Greek and Turkish roots. It is famous for its salty lake ("Ghiol" in Turkish). The mud from the lake is often used in treatment of rheumatic and dermatological ailments.

The location within Techirghiol offers a good retreat from the busy Black Sea resorts. The generous outdoor facilities (BBQ place, Fireplace, camping, soccer etc) provide a number of activities and spaces to relax. Enjoy the day on the beach and then recharge in the evening breeze on the terraces of the hostel.

By car:
- Drive into Constanta and follow the directions for Eforie / Mangalia
- In the town of Agigea take the right hand turn towards Techighiol / Negru Voda
- After 3 km you enter Techirghiol. Take the second street on the left.
- After 200 metres you will arrive at the hostel.

By train:
Take the train to Eforie Nord via Constanta. In Eforia Nord you can take a public minibus to downtown Techirghiol (10 minute drive). Please be aware that the buses do not have a fixed schedule. You can take also a cab - around EUR 15 (2007).

From the Bus station in Techirghiol it is a 15-20 minute walk to the hostel. Please ask for the "German Guest house".
