In the heart of Transilvania, on the western foothills of the Carpathians, Sovata stands at a height of 500 m, where 2003 Danubius Hotels Group-after a complete reconstruction - reopened the 3-star Hotel Sovata. The 6-storied Hotel Sovata - only 150 metres from the lake Bear - offers 168 double rooms, all equipped with balcony, bath or shower, colour TV with satellite programmes, minibar and phone. Non-smoking, antiallergic rooms and rooms for disabled are provided as well.

The newly established health spa department of the hotel awaits clients, who are looking for healing and relaxation. Treatments are indicated in case of rheumatic and musculoskeletal disorders, rehabilitation after accident, chronic inflammatory gynaecological diseases, hormonal disorders, allergic problems of the respiratory system. All these treatments are available at highest level together with accompanying services of experts with most modern technical equipment for balneo- and hydrotherapy, gynaecology, mechanotherapy, electrotherapy, phototherapy, pneumology and dermatology.

Located at the western foot of the Transylvanian Harghita and Gurghiu Mountains, 500 meters above sea-level, the resort and spa Sovata has been known across Europe for over a century.

Beyond its beautiful landscapes, its fame is largely due to Lake Bear (Lacu Ursu), the only so-called helio-thermal lake on the continent. The high salt content of the ground is dissolved within the lower layers of the lake with temperatures reaching as high as 50 degrees Celsius due to heat absorbed from sunrays through the upper, fresh-water layers.

Called also the "Dead Sea" of Transylvania because of its high concentration of dissolved salts, this lake offers relief for a number of ailments.
