The Union Jack Villa

The Union Jack Villa in Pitesti, 100 km north-west of Bucharest, is a revolutionary type of accommodation (Home & Stay), run and hosted by the English ex-pats Alex and Carol.

Once having enjoyed the inviting home-style atmosphere you will never want to use an ordinary hotel again. The Union Jack Villa sits majestically in its own grounds, with secure off-road parking (electronic gates, video surveillance), a barbecue area, a pool to cool off in summer and a young but extensive garden. A glazed veranda and a summer house is there to relax with a cup of tea or a cool drink after a day of hard work, sightseeing, fishing or shopping.

In addition to the listed facilities all rooms are equipped with well-assorted furniture. On the ground and first floor fridges are available and the ground floor offers a freezer for the guests (no additional costs). The ground floor also has a bathroom, a kitchen and a glazed veranda. On the first floor there is a smoking room/sun lounge, where you can use a computer with internet for free, with a balcony, and a second shower room. In the sitting-room there is an assortment of English videos and CDs available.

The bar serves wines and spirits.

Explore the numerous historical and cultural sights of this region and enjoy the beautiful nature. The Union Jack Villa is situated right in the heart of the Arges district, close to Pitesti (2 km) and to Mioveni (15 km), where the Dacia/Renault plant is located. In easy reach are the Transylvanian Mountains, Bran (home of Dracula) and Lake Vidru, to name but a few. Within a short drive are many fresh water lakes for fishing. For shopping you will find within 2 km many major hypermarkets (Auchan, Pic, Metro), and local markets at weekends.

Traveling from Bucharest:
Bucharest airport is just 130 km away, Pitesti Rail station 2 km.
Bucharest to Pitesti: A1/E81
Travel approx 105 km on the main Bucharest/Pitesti road until you reach the junction with the new Pitesti bypass (E81). (Go to note 2)

Follow signs for Pitesti Sud (E81), not Pitesti Est/Nadlac

From Ramnica Valcea/Curtea de Arges:
At the junction outside Pitesti at Bascov (underpass) take the new high way heading for Bucharest/Slatina/Craoiva/Pitesti Sud.
- (If you’re coming from Ramnica Valcea you travel straight on, through underpass, at the junction)
- (If you’re coming from Curtea de Arges you'll need to turn left at the junction)
Follow this Duel carriage way passed Euro Mall hypermarket (on your right) and continue further to sign for Slantina/Pitesti Sud, take this junction towards Pitesti Sud.

After some way and after “Metro” and “Pic” super stores there is a junction Pitesti Vama. Travel straight across the roundabout so that the Vama building is on your right. Signed Slatina/Craiova.

Follow this road passed Aushen & further on Bricoplus, to the 'T' junction (approx 5 km), at the junction, turn right towards Pitesti. After approx. 1km, there is a sign 'Bradu' on your right, (If you pass a petrol garage on your left you've gone to far).
Turn right, continue short distance to 'T' junction & turn right, you will then go under a bridge, and approx. half a km on your right is Union Jack Villa, Comuna Bradu sat, Geamana nr 185, Arges.

Although departures and arrivals are possible at any time, please indicate your approximate time of arrival in case you arrive after 22:00.
