The River Formosa Natural Park is the ideal spot for a long walk, a boat ride (from Faro), a bicycle tour, some birdwatching, or a nice sunset picnic prepared by Casa de Estoi.

If you prefer a boat ride on the open sea, Vilamoura offers a number of options, while off-road enthusiasts can discover the more rugged side of the Algarve in the Serra do Caldeirão.
