By Car:
From Lisbon:
- Take the A1 north and exit at Torres Novas (A23).
- Follow the A23 and pass the city of Castelo Branco.
- Take the Covilhã south exit.
- Drive to the centre of town and look for the route to Serra da Estrela.
The journey takes approximately 2 and a half hours.
From Porto/Aveiro:
- Take the A1 south.
- At Albergaria, follow the A25 in the direction of Viseu.
- Pass the Guarda exit (still on the A25 route) and drive through to Covilhã on the A23.
- Take the Covilhã north exit and drive to the centre of town.
- Look for the route to Serra da Estrela.
Travelling time is approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes.
From Coimbra:
- Take the IC2 route travelling north.
- Get on the IP3 route, driving to Viseu.
- Turn right before you reach Santa Comba Dão, in the
direction of Mangualde.
- Follow the A25 and pass the Guarda exit
(still on the A25 route).
- Take the Covilhã north exit.
- Drive to the centre of town and look for the route to Serra da Estrela.
(Travelling time is 2 and a half hours.
From the Algarve:
- Take the A2 highway in the direction of Lisbon, going through Castro Verde to Marateca.
- Exit to take the A13/N119 until you reach Infantado, following the N10 until Vila Franca de Xira.
- Then take the A1 north and exit at Torres Novas (A23).
- Follow the A23 and pass the city of Castelo Branco.
- Take the Covilhã south exit.
- Drive to the centre of town and look for the route to Serra da Estrela.
Travelling time is 4 hours and 45 minutes.
