Area information
Cieszyn is a town delightfully situated on hills and divided into two parts by the border river Olza. According to a legend, it was built in the place where a king’s three sons – Bolko, Leszko and Cieszko met after long separation in 810. To commemorate their meeting, they founded a town. In reality, Cieszyn came into being later, at the end of the 10th century as one of the first stronghold in the Polans State. Cieszyn has preserved its medieval urban layout and many historic treasures.
