Hotel Creusen

Hotel Creusen is located on the outskirts of Epen, the Limburg heuvelland, one of the most beautiful areas in the Netherlands, close to the borders of Germany and Belgium. The rooms and public spaces are equipped with all modern conveniences and the Creusen Family will make every effort to suit all you wishes. For more than 35 years Hospitality is written with the capital letter 'H' here.

Managed by the Creusen family for more than 40 years, Hotel Creusen meets all of the high standards one would expect of a 4-star hotel. All hotel rooms are comfortable, with air conditioning and a lift serving both floors. As of the 1st of January 2008, all of the hotel rooms are also non-smoking.

The club-like lounge runs seamlessly over onto the south facing terrace. Here you can sit and admire the view of the Limburg hills or maybe enjoy an afternoon tea served in the traditional way.

There is an internet terminal available for our guests, free of charge.

The hotel also provides horse stables for 2 horses (the boxes are 3 X 3 metres in size) with possible grazing place.

From July 1 2009 the hotel will have an indoor pool

All 18 non-smoking rooms are equipped with modern conveniences and air-conditioning. A number of rooms come with balcony and a view over the rolling hills of South Limburg.

A pleasant stay is of course not complete without a delicious breakfast and dinner. Our restaurant is only available for hotel guests and a reservation is necessary, at least 1 day in advance. We prepare the food with fresh, local products from the best suppliers Limburg.

It is a traditional custom in England and Ireland to have some sweet and savoury delicacies with the afternoon tea. Every day you can enjoy our delightful version of afternoon tea from 14:00 to 17:00.

A holiday in South Limburg is seen by the Dutch as going abroad without leaving the country. The rolling hills and typical timber-framed Dutch Tudor houses form an interesting contrast to the rest of the country. The coming together of three countries; the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany at the southernmost tip of the province add something unique to this part of the Netherlands. There is a long tradition of catering for tourists here and this is reflected in the hospitality of the local people. Epen lies at the heart of this beautiful region located within striking distance of Maastricht, and Aachen (20 minutes), Liege (45 minutes), Brussels (90 minutes), and Cologne (60 minutes). The local area is a sort of nature reserve with flora and fauna unique to the valley of the river Geul. Imagine yourself standing on the banks of the river with Mistletoe rustling in the native Poplars or in the midst of native Orchids and Zinc Violets, which are only to be found in this area.Sunken paths and Whitethorn hedges full of wildflowers lead you to abundant forests where with a bit of luck you will spot a wild Deer, a Badger or a native toad. Tradition and folklore go hand in hand here in this area. Traditional processions and the lighting of the traditional pagan bonfires to mark the passing of winter into spring in Epen are just a sample of the traditions which still live here.
For sports lovers, Epen and the surrounding region, offers a choice of Golf, Horse riding, and Mountain bike trails.

ROUTE DESCRIPTION: By car: Coming from direction Eindhoven, follow the A2 motorway in the direction of Maastricht, take exit Heerlen/Aken, proceed your way in the direction of Aken, take exit Simpelveld/Vaals. Follow the signs for Vaals and when the motorway changes into two-way traffic, turn right at the second traffic lights in the direction of Maastricht. In the village of Wahlwiller turn left in the direction Mechelen/Epen. On arrival in Epen, keep following the road and you will find hotel Creusen on your right hand side. By public transport: Take the train to Heerlen or Maastricht. In Maastricht get on bus number 57 straight to Epen. In Heerlen first take bus number 57 to Gulpen, where you have to get on another number 57 to Epen.
