Hotel Friends Texel

Situated on Texel Island just 500 metres from the beach and De Koog’s town centre, this low budget hotel has a café with sun terrace, on-site bar and free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

A variety of cocktails and draft beer is served at the bar, and during warm weather guests can enjoy coffee and a newspaper on the sun terrace.

Hotel Friends Texel’s simply furnished rooms include an in-room wash basin, 2 folding chairs and and a table. Bathrobes are provided in all rooms, and guests have access to shared bathroom facilities.

Friends Texel Hotel’s guests have free access to Wi-Fi and the computer in the café. Hotel staff can direct guests to nearby walking trails through the dunes and woods.

Guests can reach Texel Island via ferry, which takes 20 minutes’ from the Den Helder Ferry Port. Once on the island, Hotel Friends Texel is approximately 15 minutes’ drive.

Hotel Friends Texel is located in the entertainment centre of the seaside resort De Koog. This cosy brown-café is open daily, all year round and is an excellent place to go to for an early morning cup of coffee and paper, or for a late night local drink or a nicely priced shooter. When the weather is nice and sunny you can also sit outside on the terrace.

Wi-Fi is available in the entire hotel. In case you don't have your own laptop, you are welcome to use the computer at the café, also free of costs.

The hotel has simple rooms with a wash basin. The rooms are equipped with 2 box spring beds with a duvet. All rooms offer standard facilities including 2 bathrobes. The toilets and showers are in the hall.

The hotel does not serve breakfast, but in the direct vicinity you will find various breakfast possibilities.

The café offers sandwiches, kebab, schnitzel, spare ribs, Dutch bitter balls and various snacks.

Hotel Friends Texel is situated right outside the centre of De Koog. Many woods, beaches and dunes are within walking distance of the hotel.

The village of De Koog is highly focused on tourism: from a simple camp site to a 4-star hotel. De Koog is the place to go out on Texel with its cafés, restaurants and discos.

There are also a range of facilities on offer such as squash courts, subtropical swimming paradise and the biggest tourist attraction of Texel: Ecomare, the Centre for the Wadden islands and the North Sea.

Ferry
The ferry to Texel leaves every hour on the half hour from Den Helder, 100 km north of Amsterdam. The boat ride takes approximately 20 minutes.
The ferry from Den Helder sails from 06:30 to 21:30. From Texel, the ferry sails from 06:00 to 21:00, leaving every hour on the hour.

On Sundays and holidays the first ferry leaves one hour later during the summer season and two hours later in winter. On December 31st, the last ferry (both from and to the island) is cancelled. Reservations are not necessary and can not be made. On busy days the extra ferry rides during peak hours (the ferries will leave every half hour). People travelling by bus or train have a good ferry connection.

Directions on the island
From the ferry follow the road signs ‘De Koog’.
In De Koog you continue, taking a right turn automatically. You will drive past the Texaco gas station. Take a left into the street ‘Nikadel’.
