Nestling among age old trees in the midst of one of Holland's most beautiful, untouched areas, on the border between Overijssel, Drenthe and Friesland, we find "Hampshire Hotel - de Eese". This three star hotel has 56 luxery rooms and 9 conference rooms, with all the facilities you would expect. Furthermore the hotel has a lounge, bar, brasserie, restaurant with a patio, a heated indoor-swimming pool, a sauna, a bicycle rent and an all-weather tennis court. In the park you will find 50 holiday bungalows.

The kitchen of Hampshire Hotel – de Eese is original and varied. Dishes are carefully prepared, with special attention to detail.

On the menu we have original dishes prepared with seasonal ingredients. The cooks of the hotel constantly strive to create new dishes that match the wishes of the guests.

The brasserie has a unique interior design. Children are welcome to choose from a variety of special dishes, watch a movie or play in the play area.

For an aperitif, a nice draught beer or simply to meet others, the bar or lounge is the right place. It is nice to relax here after a long day of activities like biking, excursions or cultural visits.

A stay in our hotel offers many possibilities for surprising tours through the vast nature reserves and characteristic towns.
A few examples are:

Giethoorn, also called ‘the Venice of the north’ (10 km), National Park De Weerribben (13 km), National Park Het Drents Friese Wold (16 km) and National Park Dwingelderveld (23 km).

For an impressive day trip, visit the megalithic tombs (hunebedden) and heaths in Havelte and Diever.

Cycling, horse riding, mountain biking, touring on a moped, hiking and touring in a covered wagon are also possible in the direct surroundings.

The tourist centre of Steenwijk, with its historical character, is absolutely worth visiting.

By public transport:

The hotel is ca. 3 km from the railway station of Steenwijk. You can take a taxi (ca. EUR 8) or a train taxi.

By car:

The hotel is ca. 2 km from exit 6 of the A32 Meppel/Leeuwarden.

Please note that you have to enter ‘De Bult’ instead of Steenwijk if you use a navigation system.

Coming from Zwolle (A28):

- Take the A32 to Meppel/Leeuwarden
- Follow this road till exit 6 (Steenwijk/Frederiksoord)
- Turn right to Frederiksoord/Vledder at the end of the exit
- Turn left to the Bultweg after ca. 1.5 km
- Turn right at the Y-junction (Duivenslaagte)
- After about 100m you will see the entrance of Hampshire Hotel – de Eese on your left

Coming from Heerenveen (A32):

- Follow the A32 till exit 6 (Steenwijk/Frederiksoord)
- Turn left towards the roundabout at the end of the exit
- Turn left (3/4) on the roundabout to Frederiksoord/Vledder
- Turn left to the Bultweg after ca. 1.5 km
- Turn right at the Y-junction (Duivenslaagte)
- After about 100m you will see the entrance of Hampshire Hotel – de Eese on your left

Coming from Emmeloord (N331/N333):

- Follow this road till the roundabout
- Turn left at the roundabout (Ruxveenseweg/N334)
- Drive until Wolvega (drive also straight ahead at the traffic lights)
- Turn right to the motorway (Meppel/Zwolle) at the T-junction
- Take the exit to Steenwijk (A32)
- Follow this road till exit 6 (Steenwijk/Frederiksoord)
- Turn left at the end of the exit
- Turn left on the roundabout to Frederiksoord/Vledder
- Turn left to the Bultweg after ca. 1.5 km
- Turn right at the Y-junction (Duivenslaagte)
- After about 100m you will see the entrance of Hampshire Hotel – de Eese on your left

Guests are kindly requested to note that the restaurant will be closed every Sunday from 01 November 2010 until 31 March 2011. However, the brasserie will remain open during this time.
