Hotel American-Dinesen

Experience this antique palace overlooking San Vio canal, built in the 18th century by a wealthy Venetian merchant. In 1925, it was renovated by the celebrated architect Duilio Torres, in order to become the fine hotel then named Pensione Dinesen.

In 1970, the hotel was renamed Hotel American, assuming its current incarnation. It is equipped with a private dock for gondolas and motorboats, and features the latest technology in hospitality as a complement to its historic atmosphere and unique artistic tone. Its impressive hall is painted in fresco and furnished in classic Venetian style.

From Marco Polo Airport: you can take a private water-taxi directly to the hotel or the Alilaguna water-bus service to Zattere boat station. Follow the canal on your right and turn left after crossing the first bridge. Follow the s.vio canal for about 100 metres (just 2 minutes walking in total). From the airport you can take also a public bus to Piazzale Roma.

From Piazzale Roma or S. Lucia railway station:
Take a private water-taxi directly to the hotel or a public water-bus, number 1 or 82, to Accademia boat-station. Go left, following directions to Peggy Guggenheim collection, and turn right after the first bridge (just 2 minutes walking in total).

Parking:
The hotel suggests that you park your car at the San Marco garage in Piazzale Roma. At your check-out, the hotel will give you a discount coupon to grant you a 20% discount in winter and 10% discount the rest of the year. Piazzale Roma is the bus terminal at the end of the bridge.

From Marittima:
The best way to reach Marittima station or the hotel from here is to get a private water-taxi, which takes about 10 minutes. You can also take the Alilaguna from S. Marco Square to the cruise dock. Usually the cruise companies arrange shuttles from Piazzale Roma to Marittima and back (please check directly with your cruise company).
