Once upon a time…

It was at the turn of the century that the Cacciatore Inn first appeared on the main road that links the Val d’Orcia with the Maremma. It has always been a meeting place for travelers, merchants and huntsmen as well as a provider of essential services for the people of the surrounding countryside.

All rooms are individually furnished in typical Tuscan style. Each room is decorated in individual colours and equipped with all common facilities.

The restaurant, with its exquisite home cooking, offers a wide range of local traditional specialties , including a genuine mushroom soup, home-made pasta, braised wild boar, suckling pig roasted in a wood-fired oven and, in the evening, excellent pizzas - all accompanied by the finest local wines.

The hotel is situated in the Montecucco territory, recently awarded with the D.O.C. status (Certified quality wine district).The area also boasts a wide usage of the Seggiano olive oil and of the Brunello of Montalcino and Orcia D.O.C. wines.

SEGGIANO

Seggiano, 491 mt. high, is the lowest town on Amiata cone.
Here, in 1783, Pietro Leopoldo of Lorena admired “Marvellous vineyards and sublime olive groves”. Twelve years later, Giorgio Santi wrote “the hill is embellished with fine olive groves, fostering olive trees of extraordinary age and grandeur...”

By Car:
From the North:
- Take the exit for Firenze-Certosa (115 km)/Superstrada.
- After Siena, take the exit for SI-Sud/SS2 Cassia to Roma.
- Drive via Monteroni d' Arbia/Buonconvento/S. Quirico/Bagno Vignoni/Castiglione d'Orcia, towards Seggiano/Arcidosso.
- You will find the hotel after about 14 km on a country road.
