Hotel Palumbo

Hotel Palumbo overlooks Ravello and enjoys views of the Gulf of Salerno. Rooms are unique and some offer panoramic views. Free Wi-fi is available in public areas.

The Palumbo consists of a historic building, Palazzo Confalone, and a design annexe, Casa Palumbo. The 2 buildings are 20 metres apart. The hotel features a cool, relaxing garden.

Rooms are found in both buildings and feature either modern design or antiques from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.

Breakfast is continental style. During spring and summer you can sample a range of Mediterranean cuisine on the panoramic terrace of the Confalone Restaurant.

The hotel preserves traces of the original medieval structure of the 12th century Palazzo Confalone. Other architectural and decorative elements were added in the 17th century.

The 5 different levels of the building do not correspond to modern-day storeys, since the original structure was essentially vertical, but irregular. Additional wings and a tower-like extra storey contribute to the maze of unpredictable openings, corners and corridors.
A small flag-like sign hangs discreetly above the main door of Palazzo Confalone. Built in the 12th Century, in a charming location on one of Ravello’s little alleyways, the building protrudes onto the street with a tower-like structure forming an arch, dotted with tiny loop-holes which were used as lookouts in bygone days.

The 21 spacious rooms and suites feature a mixture of arches, corridors, corners, niches and passageways; a composition of ‘nests’ which open onto the sun of Ravello and onto the Amalfi Coast’s mellow nights.

The vaulted rooms, with their thick walls are evocative of past architecture, whilst the corridors and floors enhance the luminosity of the typical white of Mediterranean interiors.

Each room in unique, reconciling the medieval origins of the building with the use of space. All the rooms are furnished with antiques from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries belonging to the Vuilleumier family.

You can sample a range of Mediterranean cuisine on the terrace of the Confalone Restaurant.

For lunch, in addition to the “à-la-carte” menu, the restaurant offers a list of recommended dishes.

Please note: the Restaurant is closed from November till April.

In the evenings, when the atmosphere grows almost magical, there are specially devised dishes that reflect the changing seasons.

As well as local, regional and national cuisine, you will be able to taste specially selected products thanks to the expertise of Chef Giuseppe Sacconi.

Between the 11th and 12th centuries, Ravello was a thriving commercial centre, trading with the Middle East and Sicily. Evidence of this can be seen in the numerous buildings in an Arab-Siculo style, built by the wealthy merchant families. Today, one can experience the Ancient Times by visiting various works of great artistic value, such as the Duomo, the splendid Villa Cimbrone and the romantic Villa Rufolo.

A mild climate, the ancestral atmosphere and its unmistakable characteristics make Ravello the ideal place for a unique stay.

By Plane:
Naples Airport Capodichino is the nearest airport to Ravello. On request, the hotel offers a shuttle service to and from the airport.

By Train:
Naples Train Station - 56 km. Salerno Train Station - 30 km. On request, the hotel offers a shuttle service to and from the stations.

By Car:
From the North:
- Take the A3 motorway south from Rome to Naples.
- After you have passed Naples, keep on the A3 motorway and continue south towards Salerno for 38 km.
- Exit at Angri.
- Follow the signs to Costiera Amalfitana-Valico di Chiunzi-Ravello.

From the South:
- Arriving from the Campania region, take the A3 motorway north and exit at Salerno Centro.
- Turn left and follow the signs to Costiera Amalfitana and Vietri sul Mare.
- Once you reach Vietri, proceed in the direction of Ravello, passing by Cetara, Erchie, Maiori and Minori.
