A little over an hour’s drive from Cesenatico, the Republic of San Marino, with its impressive museums, theatres and typical shops is a great place for a day trip. In the old part of town you can visit the Palazzo Pubblico Museum. Originally built in a neo-Gothic style, it was rebuilt in the Romanesque style on the foundations of the original Parva Domus Communis.

Do not miss the Changing of the Guard which happens in front of the Palazzo Pubblico (in Piazza della Libertà) during the summer months from 08:30 to 18:30 every hour on the half hour.

Another place of interest is the National Museum, which recounts the archaeological and artistic history of San Marino.
