Hotel Floridiana

Originally the 12th century home of an aristocratic family, this 3-star hotel is located in the city centre, just 50 metres from the cathedral and 100 metres from the beach.

The hotel was first renovated in the 17th and 18th century. Its last renovation was been effected without changing its historical characteristics at the beginning of 2004. The history of the antique salon can be admired in the wonderful painted fresco and the original old furnishings.

All over the hotel, the Vietri sul Mare ceramics, with their warm colours, can be admired.

All rooms are equipped with all modern facilities. As well as the facilities listed, the rooms are equipped with screen windows to avoid the access of mosquitoes.

A combination of history and nature makes up the Amalfi coast; the majestic cathedral, the villas in Ravello and the numerous churches and constructions dating from the Amalfi Republic age; the isles of Li Galli in front of Positano and the Emerald Cave-Grotta dello Smeraldo in Conca dei Marini.

There are lots of little public and private museums, like the Paper Mill museum, the ceramic museum and the Collegiata museum.

White houses cling to the rocks opposite the impressive Cathedral of Amalfi which is in the city centre. Like many of the houses, the cathedral is dedicated to the Apostle Andrew, and can be reached by a flight of 57 steps. From here, a wonderful view of all the hidden, antique villas, now made into hotels, and the antique stairways and alleys can be admired. All of these alleys conceal a square, where in past the artisans of the town made their living.

From Amalfi, you can also enjoy several excursions to Capri, Positano, Sorrento, Ravello, Pompei and Vesuvio, either by private or by public transport (bus or boat).

By Plane:
From Naples Capodichino airport (80 km):
To reach the Amalfi Coast, either take a taxi or the public Bus ANM to Naples city, then a bus from Naples central train station: the SITA bus service runs directly from Piazza Municipio to Amalfi.

If you arrive at Beverello Harbour, you can also get to Amalfi by ferry, please note that this service is only available during high season (mid April until end October/mid November at the latest).

By Train:
The nearest railway station is in Salerno, approximately 22 km from Amalfi. Either take a taxi or the SITA bus service which runs directly to Amalfi each hour except on Sundays and bank holidays.

By Car:
Please inform the hotel if you are arriving by car, as the staff will need to provide you with a special permit to allow you to drive in the city centre.
