Area information
Malavoglia Inn is located right in the centre of this charming and picturesque fishing village, which inspired Giovanni Verga's most well-known novel, I Malavoglia.
With the stunning rocks of the Faraglioni as a backdrop, there is plenty to see and do in the town, with water sports proving particularly popular. Guests can try their hand at scuba diving, snorkelling or night fishing with lampara, a traditional type of fishing net. Alternatively, you might like to rent a rubber dinghy or a canoe.
The area is full of authentic local restaurants featuring traditional regional cuisine, with the emphasis on fresh, locally-caught seafood. There are also many bars and places to enjoy authentic Sicilian ice cream or traditional granita (a type of sorbet).
The area also offers vibrant nightlife with several pubs and clubs and a summer and winter disco just one km outside the village.
The historic centre of Catania is just 10 km away, Taormina is approximately 40 km away and Syracuse is 80 km away. The peak of Mount Etna is only 30 km away.
