The Temple Gate hotel rests on the site of a nineteenth-century Convent of Mercy with a fascinating and eventful history. Prior to its conversion to a convent, the original house was the property of Charles O'Connell, cousin of Daniel O'Connell. Discreetly situated just off the town centre, a short walk through the warm glow of the Victorian lamps in the cobble-stoned courtyard leads our guests to the heart of the historical and vibrant town of Ennis. With over thirty years experience in the hotel business, John Madden, the proprietor of the hotel, along with Ennis Developers had a vision to develop this historic site to a high quality hotel while retaining the Gothic theme.
