Opened in the summer of 2008, this Icelandic theme hotel focuses on energy. Located on the slopes of Mt. Hengill, Icelandair Hotel Hengill offers dramatic views over Lake Thingvallavatn and the Hengill Mountain Range. Still the hotel is only a 30 minutes drive from Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland.

The energy theme is transferred to the rooms, which are painted in energising colours and decorated with crystal salt lamps. The house bar serves a selection of energy and power drinks and cocktails. Decoration and art work is based on energy and power and a touch of fantasy.

The hotel’s excellent location provides guests with fantastic access to numerous historical Icelandic sights. Thingvellir National Park is a site where ancient Viking assemblies first held counsel in 900AD. The geothermal area of Nesjavellir consists of surreal bubbling mud pools and hot springs.

Located 177 meters above sea level in the south-western part of the country, Icelandair Hotel Hengill is an excellent place to depart on a hunt for the Aurora Borealis, also called the Northern lights, which most often occurs from September to April.
