Since 2003, the former home of Nobel laureate writer Halldór Laxnes has also opened its doors to the public and become one of Iceland’s major cultural shrines.

The mountainous area surrounding the town is ideal for skiing and other snow activities. Fishing for trout and salmon in the small lakes and rivers is also a popular sport.

From Keflavik International Airport there are several transport options available.
From the final BSI bus terminal in the centre of Reykjavik arrangements can be made for guests to be picked up and driven to the hotel. Alternatively the number 15 bus departs from outside the BSI Terminal to Hotel Laxnes.
