12 well furnished and cosy rooms all include private facilities and feature simple but warmly decorated furnishings.

The hotel restaurant offers an à la carte menu where guests can relax by the open fire or take in the views from the sheltered veranda.The hotel also operates a large restaurant nearby called the Waterfall Inn (Fossbúð)

Weddings have been very popular at Hotel Skogar, especially with many conducting a civil ceremony underneath the Skogarfoss Waterfall. A small church is also in the immediate vicinity.

The Skogar Hotel offers 12 cosy rooms; one triple, one single and 10 double rooms.

Up to 35 guests can be accommodated and we offer facilities for a similar number of campers.

The region’s highlight is perhaps the spectacular Skogarfoss Waterfall; about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. 60 meters in height, it is famous for its beauty. During sunny weather a rainbow is always a visible at the waterfall. There is even an urban myth claiming that a chest of gold is buried somewhere beneath it. The river teams with salmon, trout and char, making it one of the better rivers to fish in all of Iceland.

Hiking up to the top of the Skogarfoss waterfall and the stunning series of falls and rapids is a must do for all fit travellers.

Special trips with boats under the rock arches by Dyrholaey are also available.

Horse riding and day trips to Seljalandsfoss & Thorsmörk, Landmannalaugar, The Glacier Lagoon Jökularslón, Skaftafell National Park & Vatnajökull and the Westman Islands are all popular excursions as well.

Remember to visit the famous and well frequented Skogar Folk Museum.

Directions from Reykjavik:
Take Highway 1 (Ring Road 1) all the way east from Reykjavik. Pass through the city Selfoss. Continue east to Hvolsvöllur which you pass through. Drive 50 km east of Hvolsvöllur, on your left side, you will see the Skogafoss waterfall. The hotel is situated 5 minutes walk from the waterfall. The entrance to the hotel is signed posted.

Directions from Keflavik:
Take road 41 to Reykjavik and follow the signs to intersection with road 1. Take road 1 east. Then see directions above.

Keflavik Airport: 190 km north east, 150 minutes.
Reykjavik: 150 km east, 120 minutes.
