Area information

The hotel is in the heart of Akureyri, within easy walking distance of the very centre of the town. The hotel is next to an outdoor swimming pool and close to Akureyri’s renowned botanical gardens. The shore is also just a short distance from the hotel.

Akureyri has a number of museums, including the Folk Museum, Natural History Museum and Nonnahús, which was the home of Jón Sveinsson, a well known Icelandic children's author. The house is now a museum containing 19th century furniture and the author’s artifacts.

Listagil, or the Akureyri Arts Centre, is a Street of the Arts created out of old industrial buildings. The centre contains varied activities and establishments, such as the Akureyri Art Gallery, Akureyri School of Art, artists' studios, exhibition halls, restaurants and a visitors' studio for the benefit of travelling artists.

Akureyri is a good base for touring the north of Iceland. The region around Akureyri offers lots to see, including historic places such as Grund, Möðruvellir and Laufás.
