Agios Ioannis is located in the east of Ierapetra, and covers the area from the southern slope of the Thripti mountain range (also known as Aori) to the coast.
There are lots of bars and taverns at the popular beaches of Koutsounari and Ferma. The nearby towns of Ierapetra, Agios and Nikolaos provide plenty of shops for those interested in buying local handicrafts, jewellery and local delicacies, as well as many taverns for entertainment.
There are chapels of architectural and historical interest.

- Vai Palm Beach is just one hour away from Ierapetra

Travel information
To Crete by plane -
There are many direct flights to Heraclion from most of the major European cities from early April until to the end of October. Flying time is around 3 - 4 hours. You can get to Creta Suites from 2 airports on Crete - Heraclion (110 kilometres) and Sitia (60 kilometres). There are regular flights to Heraclion from all larger European cities and you can also fly from many Greek cities and islands.
From Heraclion to Koutsounari and Creta Suites -
1) The easiest is to contact Creta Suites and let them arrange for a rental car waiting for you at the airport or the port. Charged at EUR 200 - 250.00 per week of rental with tax, insurance and free mileage included. It takes about 90 minutes of some beautiful scenery along the coastline of Crete to go by car to Creta Suites.
Directions: Head for Agios Nikolaos. Do not go through Agios Nikolaos, but turn right just before, following the sign to Ierapetra. At the first traffic lights before Ierapetra, turn left towards Sitia. After 8 kilometres, you reach Koutsounari. There you follow the signs to the resort. We recommend a rental car, since there are so many interesting attractions to visit nearby.
2) Book a taxi through Creta Suites to be waiting for you at the airport or the port in Heraclion. Price about EUR 80.00.
3) First you have to take a taxi to the bus station. Take a bus to Agios Nikolaos, where you change to one going to Ierapetra. There, you change again to another bus, heading for Koutsounari.
