Georgioupolis is a tourist, seaside village built in a plush green area at the foot of the Almiros River. The village was named after Prince George, the supreme commissioner of Crete. The beach offers fine sands and is about 10 km long.

Crete is an island with much to offer. It has archaeological museums, traditional villages, canyons for safari or just walking, and the only natural lake of the island - Lake Kournas.
