The district is home to several beautiful medieval buildings. Day trip destinations in the area include the banks of the River Havel where you find the renowned Zitadelle and an attractive beer garden beside a brewery. Numerous shops, restaurants and entertainment venues can also be found here.

Arriving from Tegel Airport:
- Take bus 109 or X9 to Jacob-Kaiser-Platz underground station (approx. 20 minutes)
- Take the U7 underground line in the direction of Rathaus Spandau and get out at Altstadt Spandau
