Built in 1896 by the Soubirous, the hotel is a jewel of the early 20th century French architecture and provides one of the best locations in Lourdes, only 50 metres from the Sanctuaries.

With its amazing Baroque facade and stylish Art Nouveau living rooms designed by the famous architect Louis Majorelle, Grand Hôtel Moderne combines charm, elegance and comfort in the heart of Lourdes. It offers easy access to the Grotto and tourist sites of the city (native house of Bernadette Soubirous, basilicas, fortified castle and museums).

It also provides a nice bar and charming restaurant, Le Majorelle, where you can enjoy typical French-Italian cuisine food in a stylish setting made of mouldings, wood and Italian marble from Carrare.

Grand Hôtel Moderne features spacious rooms with areas ranging from (168 to 375 sq ft.) and most of them have a balcony. The elegant rooms are decorated in classic French style with large and very comfortable beds (39/55/63 x 79 in.) and all common facilities. The bathrooms are luxuriously appointed with Italian marble and white porcelain.

Lourdes is located 30 minutes from the beautiful Pyrenean valleys: Gavarnie (UNESCO), Cauterets (Pyrenees National Park) and Aspe.

It is ideal for hiking in the mountains in summer, skiing in winter, visiting the beautiful cities of Pau and Tarbes or the Basque country.

By Train:
Lourdes has a TGV train station.

By Car:
- On the A64 motorway take exit 12 for Lourdes-Tarbes Ouest.
- Then drive 15 km to the centre of Lourdes before heading to Grotto.
- The hotel is in front of the Esplanade which leads to the sanctuaries.

By Air:
2 airports are located close to the city: Tarbes-Lourdes airport (10 km) and Pau-Uzein (50 km).

Important information

The hotel will be closed from 19 October 2007 to March 2008 for huge renovation works.
By 1 January 2008, all the rooms will be non smoking.
