Hotel Gela is situated in the centre of Gela (District Smolyan), only 18 km from the famous ski resort Pamporovo, at the foothills of the highest Rhodope peak Perelik (2191m).

Gela is one of the oldest settlements in this region and represents the best starting point to all tourist routes. Erected in 1956 to be the local school, the building was transformed into hotel in the 1980's and has recently been renovated, now combining local tradition style with modern conveniences. Giving attention to even the smallest detail and to diligent service even the most demanding guests will be satisfied.

The hotel features a cosy restaurant with a fireplace and a unique collection of local art and craft objects.

The rooms are spread over 3 floors and all face a mountain - Tourlata, Grand Perelik or Orpheus. Every room has a private bath and is equipped with a multi-channel TV. Additionally, all the rooms on the second floor are with balconies.

If you want to spend an organic-food stay, the hotel is the best place for you. All offered meals are prepared with local farm products and flavoured with mountain healing herbs. In the Ethno restaurant you can test the unique: Eggs fried on embers, Patatnik - potato in flaky pastry with cheese and leek. Katchamak - polenta dish with egg and cheese, Klin - made from rice, eggs and cheese. Also an impressive collection of local mountain herb teas as well as wide range of Bulgarian wines are offered

Amateur group of 6 to 80 year old locals performs an unforgettable folklore program for our guests.

Gela is situated 18 km from the famous ski resort Pamporovo at the foothills of the Rhodope mountains. Such a marvellous sight can rarely be found anywhere else in the Rhodope mountains - numerous peaks follow one after the other like waves on the sea and lawns around are spotted with orchids, violets and autumn bells.

Today the village has no more than some dozens of inhabitants. In the village the ruins of an old monastery as well as of 2 churches can be found.

It is a real paradise for rest seekers and the starting point of numerous tourist treks. Every year on the first Sunday of August the traditional Illinden Festival (music contest for the best bagpipe players) is held.

The Pamporovo ski resort is situated 1650 m above sea level, at the foothills of the SNEJANKA (1926 m) peak, 260 km from Sofia and 85 km from Bulgaria’s second-largest city, Plovdiv.

Pamporovo is the sunniest winter resort in Bulgaria with mild winters, yet with lots of snow, and 120 days of sunshine from December to May.

We provide a shuttle service from Sofia. This is an interactive, 3-hour trip via panoramic roads through the Rhodope mountains. The route is as follows: Sofia - Plovdiv - Assenovgrad - Bachkovo Monastery - the Wonderful Bridges - Chepelare - Pamporovo - Shiroka Luka – Gela.
