Villa Stresov was rebuilt in 1996 as a five-star luxury property by the Bulgarian-American family of Marianne Djidrova Nielsen, a granddaughter of the Stresovs, and Philip R. Nielsen, her husband, in its original Swiss style used 70 years earlier.

The elegant Villa Stresov is the perfect mountain setting. Imported upscale décor and equipment are featured, including flat-panel high definition TVs and minibars in each guestroom. Its ultra-modern kitchen adjacent to the panelled dining room and bar, is ideal for preparing and serving delicious meals or entertaining. The live-in caretakers provide impeccable personal service, enhancing the guests' vacation experience. The Borovets ski chalet radiates luxury and charm in carrying on a proud tradition of guest hospitality initiated by the founding Stresov family in the 1920s.

The Bulgarian villa is attractively landscaped with diverse species of alpine foliage. It includes a garden, lawn, hammock, patio, summer garden furniture, BBQ House, gazebo, 6-person Landmark HotSpringSpa, two-tier fountain, and bath house, 2-car garage and car parking area. Discretely placed lights illuminate the garden by night.

On the second floor, the Villa Stresov has 4 cozy, tastefully decorated bedrooms to accommodate 8 people. Each bedroom has its own private tiled bathroom with a shower (2 with whirlpool tubs), thermostatically controlled shower stall, hair dryers, terry cloth robes, fluffy towels, slippers and toiletries. Each bedroom also features flat panel HDTV, minibar, air conditioning (though rarely needed), balcony and beautiful views. Additionally there is smoke detector, security sensor and Intercom.

Villa Stresov offers a generous and carefully prepared complimentary breakfast, served in the dining room. It includes juices, fruit, cheeses, sausage, bread, yoghurts, eggs, cereals, tea, coffee and other items.

Villa Stresov also offers an elegant afternoon high tea consisting of French champagne, delicious fresh cakes and a selection of tea and coffee. This treat has to be ordered in advance and is available at an additional cost.

Borovets lies at the foot of Mount Moussala in the northern part of the Rila Mountains at an altitude of 1350 meters, 73 km southeast of Sofia. The resort was founded over 100 years ago by the Bulgarian kings who built a palace and hunting lodges there.

The distance from Sofia to Borovets (also spelled Borovec, Borowez) is approximately 73 kms (1.5 hours' driving time).

The driving map to Villa Stresov, and the directions below should assist you in driving to Borovets and in finding the Villa Stresov:
* Take the Expressway E80 (Tsarigradsko Shosse) towards Plovdiv.
* Exit at the sign for Borovets, which is a few kilometers after the turn-off for the Sofia airport,
* take Highway 82 to Samokov, passing first through Gorubljane on the outskirts of Sofia and afterwards Pancharevo.
* In Samokov, turn left at the sign marked Ihktiman-Kostenets-Plovdiv.
* Cross a short bridge and immediately turn right.
* Continue straight on for 11 kms. to Borovets.
* On arrival in Borovets, bear right, and
* then left at an intersection where you will see a sign marked "Villa Stresov". Pass several shops on the right and left.
* After approximately 1 km you will see the Villa to the right at the top of a hill faced with a stone retaining wall.
* Turn right and drive 20 meters uphill to reach the front gate of the Villa.
