Landhotel Mader

The family-run Hotel Mader is directly located on the historic main square in the centre of Steyr. The renovated rooms offer views of the old town.

A rich breakfast buffet is served in the morning. The restaurant features a courtyard and a wine bar. It serves traditional Austrian cuisine.

Hotel Mader is located in a Renaissance building from the 16th century. It has been in use as a guesthouse and hotel since 1694.

History of the hotel:
The oldest parts of the beautiful gabled building date from the early 16th century. The house was first recorded as being an inn in 1694, under he guidance of Johann Altwirth. Tsar Peter I. stayed here, when, in 1697, he journeyed to Europe. On his trip to Vienna he met the sister of the Duke of Lamberg and fell in love with her. He came to Steyr to learn the art of forging and manufactured three golden roses for his love and wanted to visit her at the castle of Lamberg. But when he heard that she had married anorher man just a few days before he gave the roses to the inn keeper, where the hotel derived its previous name from.

In 1936 the Schweinschwaller family bought the building and managed the hotel through hard times. In 1965 the Mader family senior began to extend the "Gasthaus zu den 3 Rosen" for 3 decades, and by purchasing the house next door the hotel Mader was founded.

The Mader family junior has been running the hotel since 1998.

The hotel's rooms and apartments are individually furnished. Here modern comforts combine with Renaissance architecture to offer you characterful rooms.

You can enjoy elegant dining in the Schubertstüberl, while in the rustic Weinkeller restaurant you can enjoy a more relaxed evening with friends and family. When the weather is fine you can dine in the arcade-courtyard or enjoy a drink in the Schanigarten, in front of the hotel in the main square. You can also enjoy a drink in the marvellous, vaulted wine bar.

Half board is available for EUR 19.

Steyr:
This historical town is famous for its town square, which the hotel overlooks. It sits on two rivers, the Steyr and the Enns, which meet in the town centre in front of the imposing Lamberg Castle and the attractive church of St. Michael.

Arrival from Salzburg on the A1 motorway:
- Take the exit for Sattlett and follow the federal road 122 towards Kremsmünster – Bad Hall to Steyr.
- In Steyr follow the green signs for Zentrum.
- Turn to the right after the second trafic lights, go through the tunnel and turn to the left just before the big Enns bridge.
- You will find yourself in the town square, where our hotel is situated on the left-hand side.

Arrival from Vienna on the A1 motorway:
- Take the exit for Haag and follow the federal road 122 to Steyr.
- In Steyr follow the green signs for Zentrum.
- Turn to the left at the first trafic lights. At the roundabout go towards the BAUHAUS shopping centre.
- At the next trafic lights turn to the left. At the train station turn to the right. - Go across the big Enns bridge.
- Just after the bridge turn right into the town square. Our hotel is on the left-hand side.
