Area information
In the medieval city of Freistadt, the well-preserved fortifications, the city moat, the castle and the museum are worth a visit. Destinations for excursions in the surrounding area include south Bohemia (Cesky Krumlov, Ceske Budejovice, Lake Lipno), the Mühlviertel region with the Schlägl Monastery, the Upper Austrian capital of Linz and the Waldviertel region in Lower Austria. The Museum Road and the Gothic Road in the surroundings of Freistadt feature many interesting historical buildings.
