Gracing a high hillside summit above the panoramic Sabie Valey, Umbhaba Lodge is a bold statement of unstinting luxury in a sub-tropical Garden-of-Eden setting.

The milieu is a flourish of fertility, with palm-fringed walkways, lapping water features and fern-filled gardens beneath the branches of indigenous Chestnut.

Lodge facilities include an a la carte restaurant, Bar and a quiet lounge. A crystal-clear rock pool amid sprawling lawns is a glorious invitation in the heat of a Lowveld day.

Umbhaba Lodge was opened in 1997, just outside Hazyview – Mpumalanga and was the second development within the Guvon Hotels group.

The Sabie River Valley lies at the edge of the escarpment of the misty Drakensberg Mountains which towers above subtropical bushveld below. On a hillside overlooking this valley lies Umbhaba Lodge.

Umbhaba Lodge has grown from a small 14-bedroom hotel to its current 30 Suites, with conference facilities and the famous Tuskers Restaurant.

Umbhaba Lodge consists of 13 Suites, each tastefully decorated in an individual style and consists of an open log fire-place, en-suite bethroom and satelite TV.
The Induna Honeymoon Suite is fit for a King. This deluxe suite comprises an open fire-place, en-suite bathroom, mini-bar, satellite TV and a jacuzzi.
The African Tribal Suites are luxurious and spacious suites with a seperate lounge and bedroom, a fire-place on either side, a four-poster bed, satellite TV, en-suite bathroom, twin shower and sunken window bath with stunning views over the Sabie Valley and hippo pools.
The Tusker rooms are aptly named and decorated after the great Tuskers that roamed the Kruger Park. Each room has a sunken corner bath, shower, satellite TV, mini bar and private patio with the sounds of cascading water all around.

Umbhaba Lodge aims to ensure a peaceful and tranquil stay along with the seclusion of the bushveld environment.

The famous Tuskers restaurant is situated at Umbhaba Lodge and offers buffet breakfast and set menus for lunch and dinner.

Unwind on the Deck with a cold beer or have a drink at the African theme Burnt Out Bar after a long day of game viewing and activities.

At Umbhaba Lodge guests can swim, enjoy scenic walks or rides on mountain bikes to explore the natural bush. Follow a hiking trail and spot the variety of bird life and game on the property.

Umbhaba Lodge is ideally situated, and only a short drive from Mpumalanga's famous panoramic sights such as Bourke's Luck Potholes, Blyde River Canyon, God's Window and Pilgrim's Rest. Guests can be picked up from the Lodge and taken on a safari in an open vehicle to the famous Kruger National Park or other Private Parks.

Umbhaba is less than four hours from Johannesburg. We recommend you take the N4 national road East, via Nelspruit. Turn off at White River towards Hazyview on the R40 and follow the signs to Umbhaba Lodge, which is a few kilometres before Hazyview.
